Bassai (To breach a fortress) Dai
   A kata from master Itosu school, belongs to Shuri-te. Forcefulness, strong spirit and overflowing power are manifested in this kate. It is as though one were capturing an enemy castle. The karateda should know how to change disadvantage into advantage. Kakete; kicking to the opponent's knee; and attacking to the same point for three times are the specifications of this dynamic kata.

   The number of movements are forty-three, and the time required is about one minute.

   This kata is practiced in first kyu (brown belt) level.
